The Romney-ites used the “Montana” plan to steal the final contested state – Nebraska – from clueless Ron Paul delegates. To be honest it was only marginally the delegates fault, once again the central campaign – most likely paid off – sabotaged them and bit off their heals.
The “Montana Cheat” is where the Romney campaign pre-organizes all their delegates and puts them on the ballot as “one slate” a unified clear list. Any other delegates – aka those for Ron Paul – would have to be added underneath. In the case of Montana people could vote for all their delegates just by clicking a single check box, but would have to click one checkbox for each Paul delegate listed individually.
When the national traitor throw in the towel campaign was contacted to asked if they wished to provide a slate, they refused. This wasn’t the first time they refused. As much as they feel that a slate is wrong and improper, the problem is the Romney-ites WILL do it at every turn. And good guys finish last. So it was no time for the Paul campaign to get namby pamby.
But it gets worse. Not only did Paul supporters have to try to defeat a pre-listed SLATE of Romney-ites, but the Paul campaign sent out ANOTHER defeat letter just before the vote. Now I ask you who in their right mind does such a thing. The sad truth is Paul did not want to be elected.
He writes “But because this email is so important, I wanted it to come directly from me.
For several weeks now, I’ve been up front about the fact that Mitt Romney has obtained enough delegates to secure the Republican nomination.
That fact hasn’t changed – and it’s not going to change.
Over the past few weeks, my staff and I have researched the numbers extensively.
We’ve come to the conclusion that even if by some miracle all delegates to the Republican Convention were unbound, I would receive approximately 300 votes at the National Convention – far short of the 1,144 needed to secure the Republican nomination.”
This is wrong on so many levels. First no one knows the true delegate count. Second Romney is encountering scandal after scandal, since the delegates are unbound Paul has a chance that Romney will self destruct before Tampa. This kind of throw in the towel letter has many people thinking he or his staff have made a deal.
But even after all this the delegates in Nebraska let us down.
One person summed it up thusly:
“Not one Paul Supporter at that convention even put forward a candidate for committeewoman man or chair! I didn’t hear his name once, no one stood up to give a speech about liberty. No one took a stand. I see nothing but cowardice in the face of adversity. For many people their hopes rides on this convention for more than just a plurality of del’s. Think about the Michigan soldier on tour in Saudi Arabia, or Romney taking a nice fat 100 million dollar check in June from his ‘supporters’. And Ron Paul won 2 delegates. So much for Live Free Or Die”

What a negative story. Ron Paul’s campaign threw in the towel right after they were doing well in the campaign, huge crowds, winning states. Rand supports Mitt, Ron acknowledges futility of effort to fight the status quo. Why didn’t Ron try to run as an independent? Because he would have rocked the world, he just wanted to rock the GOP. The Mitt don’t fit.
It is a very common pratice and completely legal for a candidate to put forth a slate to be voted on up or down. That was no violation of any rule and I’ve seen the practice since the 1980′s. Why didn’t Paul put up a slate is the real question. After they were asked to put one up they must have known the Romney camp was going to. If this decision was made by local delegates it can be put down to newbies making mistakes. If this came from the national campaign they undermined their delegates. The time of the Paul e-mail gives credence to the “he didn’t want to win Nebraska” camp.
I have been following the DP for several months now. Also the Youtube (matlarson), etc…Every time you guys get ahead, someone from the “administrative” campaign leaders throw you a curve ball that takes out half of the heart of your cause or worse yet, left you to sink or swim at a lot of the delegate elections – sending you mixed messages, putting undue fear into your directives, giving out your game plan instead of just shutting up and moving forward (once again administrative) it was terribly sad to watch. Unfortunately, I was awakened too late to be of any good, but I will be all up in it the next four years. There were some extreme cheating going on at these caucuses, but honestly, the numbers were not there to take them over – Missouri was short delegates, Nebraska was short, etc…the states were you did have the numbers, you won. So we know now it is all in the numbers. You might consider taking two of the most important parts of your message and work on those first, then once you get everyone in office that knows your whole message, change can happen. The points that are getting the most and best response is Audit the Fed and End the Fed and the empire building all over the world and wars. Even the most government dependent people respond positively to anyone talking about this. Honestly, I used to think war was good for the economy -AUGH! How many more misinformed people like me are out there. Please continue the message about the MSM and the banks/bankers, out with electronic voting machines etc…people need to know what’s going on there. Quit slamming on Rand for playing the game, because he is getting insider support you guys can’t give him but obviously he needs you, too and you all know his message is good for this country. I know you guys don’t like the give a little to get a little, but unfortunately, that’s how the game is played and why Dr. Paul couldn’t get anywhere with his message until it is almost too late….Delegates – you need to go to Tampa and demand Rand be Vice President – If Romney gets President and Rand is Vice – Romney is so twisted, under table dealing and double dealing that he will be impeached and then Rand can step right in – I hope he gets arrested before the convention, then Dr. Paul can get elected, but if not, get Rand in as Vice! You delegates don’t understand how important you are!! Get in that lawsuit so you can vote unbound and either get Dr. Paul nominated or Rand Vice president – it’s a win win either way!!
I believe in Miracles – I think the fact that you guys have accomplished so much under such turmoil is in fact a miracle! So don’t give up!! It’s new day every day and you guys most certainly have it going on! Makes me feel a lot better about the future!!

Trish, the vice presidential candidate will most likely be picked by convention time and Romney has more than enough delegates to choose who he wants. You have to consider that both Santorum and Gingrich will release their delegates to Romney as is the custom and he probably has around 1500 now. It’s simple numbers game. I have been to the national conventions before and I assure you the way they playout is nothing like the state conventions. There will be no floor fights whatsoever. Everything will be by acclaimation and any fighting will occur in committee which Romney looks to own. Which will mean that national delegates will be there to applaud. It’s more of a party time than business time because the real work is not done on the floor.
At least that’s the way it USED to be done, hopefully no more…
